Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Sharon Sylvan can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Sharon Sylvan, 55, of Woodbridge, NJ, formerly of Trinidad WI died on Monday, April 4, 2016. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruby Memorial, 202 Stockton Street in Hightstown, NJ. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.rubymemorialhome.com. Visiting hours will take place on Saturday April 16th from 12pm to 2 pm at the funeral home. A catholic prayer service will be offered at 2 p.m. Cremation will follow at The Crematory Chapel at Holy Cross Burial Park in East Brunswick, NJ.
Born in Trinidad WI, Sharon also lived in Maryland, Brooklyn NY and various parts of New Jersey before moving to Woodbridge 5 years ago. Sharon attended St. Gabriel’s Girls Primary School San Fernando, Trinidad WI, after passing the common entrance exam, went on to St. Joseph’s Convent where she obtained her A Levels. She did internship at the school for the hearing impaired and at Holy Faith Convent Couva Trinidad WI. Sharon, being such an industrious young lady, migrated to the U.S where she attended Howard University in Washington DC at the early age of 18. She graduated with her Master’s, Magna Cum Laude. After graduating from Howard, she moved to Brooklyn NY and worked as a director in a school for the physically challenged. Her last place of employment was Community Therapy and Rehabilitation in Brooklyn NY. She worked as a Speech Therapist. Sharon was an ardent reader and traveler. She loved going to the Casino. Sharon loved dressing. Jewelry, shoes, wigs and handbags were her passion.
Beloved and treasured daughter to Eulyn Sylvan. Long- time partner, companion and girlfriend of over 12 years to Richard McCarthy. Dear sister and best friend to Charlene Sylvan-Campbell and her husband Paul, and Gerard Sylvan and his wife Terry-Ann. Cherished aunt and God Mother to Jade Beckels. God-Daughter and niece to Cosmos and Veronica Joseph, Sylvia Garcia, Utilda Wharwood. Theresa and Camilus David. Cousin to John Alfonso, Shirley Figaro, Lydia, Christaly, Terry, Jameel, Jason, Dianne, Marianne, Susan, Helen and many more loving cousins and friends.
Sharon was a giver, and nothing was too much for her to give to others. She was loved by all, with an ever tantalizing personality, and could win you over with her beautiful smile. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. Sharon will be dearly missed by all. We love you.
