Obituary for Yiyun Huang

Yiyun Huang, December 12, 1932 – March 10, 2020, resident of Plainsboro, NJ, passed away peacefully at Merwick Care surrounded by his beloved family members.

Yiyun graduated from Zhejiang University in 1953 and was a professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the same university until his retirement in 1995.

He was a visiting scholar at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1979-1980, being among the first group of scholars from China after emigration restrictions to the United States were lifted. After retirement, Yiyun, alongside his wife, spent most of his time in the US with his son and daughter, enjoying his retirement while helping care for his grandchildren. Even in retirement, he couldn’t help but continue teaching, no longer to college students but to his grandchildren. His dedication to his family and his craft will continue to live on with us.

Yiyun was the beloved husband of Hua Sun for over 60 years. Yiyun will forever be remembered by his children, Dexter Sun (May Zhou Zhao) and Esther Sun (Gwan-Ywan Lai), treasured grandchildren, Alice Sun, Michael Sun-Huang, Christopher Lai, and Madison Lai, along with countless other friends and family who were blessed to know him.

Yiyun had a passion for classical music, world politics, and travelling. He always loved good food, and he was blessed with the fortune of never having it go to his waist.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life TBD at the Ruby Memorial Home, 2050 Rt 130, North Brunswick.

In lieu of flowers, we would like to suggest a donation to his church, OCM Canaan Church of Princeton in his name.

Funeral Arrangements are under the respectful care and direction of Funeral Director, Christine A. Cuoco of Ruby Memorial in North Brunswick, NJ. Family & Friends may share memories and offer condolences at www.rubymemorialhome.com
