Obituary for Ronald Ernest Haucke

RONALD E. HAUCKE (RON) was born in White Plains, New York on May 22, 1942.
Ron’s passing was on July 11, 2022.

The son of immigrant parents, Hugo Haucke and Olga Stark, Ron grew up in Pleasantville, New York.
A 1968 graduate of C.W.Post College, Ron graduated with a BS degree.

He was most proud of his accomplishments working for The City of New York Human Resources Administration, Department of Home Care Services. During his long tenure with the city, he served as a child welfare case worker helping to assure the well-being of children living in impoverished circumstances. He later served as a contract manager for home care services for New York City.

He and his wife Lorraine moved to Rossmoor, an active adult community in Monroe Township, New Jersey in 2001.

He had a particularly energetic and active retirement. On the athletic side, Ron played tennis, ping pong, and croquet. To expand his mind, he was active in discussion groups that included Great Decisions, where he helped clarify American foreign policy situations. He was also a member of the Current Events discussion group at Rossmoor.

Ron participated in lifelong learning classes at Evergreen Forum in Princeton, as well as at The Princeton Adult School.

As a longtime member of The Coalition for Peace Action in Princeton, NJ he was involved in the quest for worldwide peace and caring.

He also served as volunteer in many campaigns for Democratic Party-political candidates both in New York and New Jersey.

During his terminal illness he was asked if this short biography should be written with the idea of not having a dry eye in the house or instead to keep people laughing and smiling. He absolutely wanted readers of this obituary to remember him by smiling and laughing. So, if you are reading this, please think of a joke or a happy moment that made you smile and then think of Ron.

Ron is survived by his wife of thirty-one years, Lorraine Haucke, as well as his sister Linda Krausman, and several nieces and nephews.

If you would like to honor Ron’s memory, a donation in his name to one of his favorite causes would be appropriate.
