Obituary for Richard F.S. Sun

Richard F.S. Sun

Richard F.S. Sun passed away peacefully at Princeton Medical Center on January 1st, surrounded by his family.

Born on January 8, 1945 in Shanghai, China, Richard was raised in Kaoshiung, Taiwan, attended college and began his career in Taipei, and emigrated in 1972 to the US to pursue his Masters in Business Administration at University of Southern California. He was a longtime resident of West Windsor, NJ after relocating with his family from Staten Island, NY.

He was a devoted father and husband, with a wicked wit. Richard was a retired accounting manager, having worked at several private companies, completing his career at Hankin Environmental Systems in Hillsborough, NJ at the end of 2018. He was a talented artist – a hobby he planned to pursue in his retirement. An avid reader of National Geographic and an advocate of environmental causes, he was a committed supporter of World Wildlife Fund and other similar organizations. He proudly became a US citizen in the 1980's.

Richard is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sylvia, his daughter Stephanie Oster and her husband, Chris and his son Alex and his wife, Jennifer. He is also survived by five grandchildren, a nephew and niece in Taiwan, and many members of extended family. He is predeceased by his parents Henry Sun and Ping Liu, and his brother James F.C. Sun, all of Taipei, Taiwan.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to World Wildlife Fund at www.wwf.org.

Arrangements are under the respectful care and direction of
