Obituary for Prithvi N Sodhi

The Sodhi Family is heartbroken to announce the passing of their Beloved, Prithvi (Billu) Sodhi. Billu passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 28th in Linden, New Jersey.

Billu was born in Wazirabad, India in 1946 to his loving parents, Sardar Jagjit Singh Sodhi and Sardarni Charanpal Kaur Sodhi. After completing his studies in India, Billu moved to America in the 1970’s. He was always a hardworking man who took chances, starting his own business and was a successful importer on Broadway, NYC. He helped countless new immigrants, and their families settle into the Tri-State area. He enjoyed reading and writing poetry in Hindi and Urdu, including printing a collection of his work during his last visit to India. Billu also had a keen interest in Ayurvedic and homeopathic remedies and was asked for his advice often through the years.

Billu will be remembered as a gem soul who cared, loved everyone around him and gave selflessly. Billu Sodhi was and will remain an inspiration to all of us. He was always instilling a growth mindset, rising to life’s challenges, finding humor in difficult situations by remembering Waheguru and staying in Chardi kala (aspiring to maintain a mental state of eternal resilience, optimism and joy).

Billu loved his children and close family with his many close nieces and nephews very much. He was a proud father of Himani, Andrea, Harpreet, and Dewan and grandfather of Johnny whom he always had in his thoughts. Billu is also survived by his loving sisters Ajit (Guddy), Ravinder (Poppie), Pushpinder (Babli) and extended family.

The Sodhi family prays to Waheguru to bless his departed soul with eternal peace and give strength to family members to bear the loss of their beloved Billu.
