Obituary for Melva E Ogilvie

MELVA OGILVIE

Melva Eugenia Ogilvie was born to Eugene and Percival Griffith on April 29th, 1945 in Colon, Panama. She migrated to the United States around 1965 where she settled in Brooklyn, New York and began her career with the Prudential insurance company. It was clear to her employer that she was capable and deserving of being promoted from a clerk and to the office manager. She is survived by her two beautiful children, Tamara and Edison, daughter in law, Angelica, four wonderful grandchildren, Chris, Brianna, Taylor, Xybre and the LOVE of her life, James.

Melva was an independent woman through and through so in 2011 when she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease not only was it a shock to all but it was a tough truth to accept. It was not easy as she had to learn to rely on many but she always felt loved by those surrounding her.

Melva cared and loved many and was cared for and loved by many. She was a sweet and caring soul but took no nonsense. She instilled many lessons, virtues, and values in not only her children and grandchildren but in anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Melva will never be forgotten. Her legacy of family, love, and hard work will live on in all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace knowing she was exceptionally loved.

“Love you, God go with you, kissy kissy”
