Obituary for John Joseph Morris

John Joseph Morris, 80, of Monmouth Junction, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of Sunday, August 18, 2019, with his wife beside him and surrounded by his loving family.

Jack loved to be outdoors, especially working in the garden; the bountiful summer season was his favorite. He taught his children and grandchildren how to work hard, harvest crops, and to respect and enjoy all creeping things. Though his dreams of becoming a veterinarian were never realized, he personally cared for all animals that crossed his path. From maintaining beehives, to running foxhounds in the Pine Barrens, to incubating ducks and chicks, he surrounded himself and his family with nature’s creations.

Jack worked for many years with Tilp, Inc. as well as Premier Tool & Die Casting Co. in Avenel, NJ.

Descending from the founding fathers with a rich heritage of military service from the Revolutionary War through the Civil War, it was with a deep love of country and a strong sense of duty, honor, and family tradition, that John served our country in the US Army Reserves.

Our Little Black Bird, as his Grandpa Ryan would call him, developed his love of cars and mechanical work alongside his uncle, Thomas Scripko.

At the end of his life, Jack declared himself to be the richest man in the world. By taking inventory of his loved ones, he truly was. He is survived by his beautiful wife, Alberta (Dumas) whom he fell in love with while ballroom dancing; his son, John Morris; his daughters, Ann Marty (Morris), Margret Morris, and Marilyn Morris; his grandson, Shawn Marty; and his children, David Yaede; Mary “Lin” Frammigen (Yaede); Melanie Beemster (Yaede), and George Yaede; as well as 18 grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren, and two on the way. Jackie is survived by his younger sister, Janice Smaligo (Morris) and his nieces and nephew, Karen, Janette, and Ryan. He is also survived by his sister in law, Arlene Morris.

John is deeply mourned by his devoted cats Penny and Little Man.

John was greeted on the other side of the veil by his parents Margaret Catherine Ryan and John Morris; his Uncle Thomas Scripko, his Aunt Dot (Dorothy C Ryan Scripko Jenoriki), and his Uncle Michael Jenoriki; his grandparents James Ryan & Martha Balmer and William H Morris & Mary Connelly; his brother, Donald Lewis Morris; his granddaughter Diana Frammigen; and his mystery Christmas card sender, Ed.

Special thanks and love to Jack’s neighbors of 40+ years, who served as friends, confidants, and loving support to him and his family all these years.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019, at the family home.

Cremation will be privately held at The Crematory at Holy Cross Burial Park in East Brunswick, NJ (Monroe / Jamesburg, NJ)
