It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Yaswant H. Patel, 70, of Edison, New Jersey, on June 6, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Minaxi Patel, a devoted father to Drs. Sagar & Priti, Drs. Sona & Tim and Rupa & Aakash, and a doting grandfather to Karina, Krish, Shaan and Katara. He will be missed by his siblings Indubhen, Dr. Navinbhai, Kusumbhen, the late Dr. Mahendrabhai, Bhaskarbhai, Dr. Arasi, and his many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Born in Kitale, Kenya, Dr. Yaswant H. Patel was the youngest son of Hiraben and Harmanbhai Patel. He earned his medical degree at Baroda Medical College, where he met the love of his life, Mina. They married in 1976 and practiced medicine and surgery in Webuye, Kenya until he migrated to NJ in 1977. He further pursed his training at UMDNJ in Obstetrics & Gynecology. Dr. Yaswant started his private practice in 1981 in Linden, NJ. For 35 years he delivered extraordinary care at Akshar Women’s Clinic, with unparalleled dedication to generations of patients in Union County. He found his greatest joy in serving his community.
Dr. Yaswant was diagnosed with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) in 2017. His fierce strength and constant love and care from his family, especially Mina, helped him battle this disease with the utmost dignity.
A deeply spiritual person, Dr. Yaswant had unwavering faith and love for all of humanity. He had the privilege to host Pujya Pramukh Swami Maharaj and Pujya Mahant Swami Maharaj in his home in 1991. Pujya Mahant Swami Maharaj has given his blessing that Dr. Yaswant Patel is with Swaminarayan Bagwan and Pramukh Swami Maharaj in Akshardham.
Due to current restrictions, the Funeral Services will be limited to immediate family.
*Private Family Puja & Last Rites Will Be Held on Tuesday, June 9, 2020. Cremation To Follow at:
Bucks County Crematory in Levittown, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to psp.org.
