Obituary for Chandrakant R. Patel

The Patel Family is heartbroken to announce the passing of their Beloved Chandrakant R. Patel.
--------------------------

Chandrakant Raojibhai Patel (CR), 92, Edison, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2023. He was born in Baroda, India on January 30, 1931. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Sumitra, and their three children Ketan, Dipti (spouse Devendra Amin), and Milan (spouse Kajaal Patel), seven grandchildren (Adeeti, Adina, Kunal, Kushal, Maya, Sajan, and Nikhil). He is also survived by one brother, Ravindra Patel, and one sister, Vasanti Patel.

CR grew up in Bombay and was one of five siblings. He attended college in Bombay and earned a BA of Commerce as well as several graduate degrees, including an LLB. He married Sumitra Patel in 1958 and they moved to Kenya in 1959 where they started a family. The family immigrated to the US in 1973 and resided in Queens, New York, for several years before settling in Edison, New Jersey, in 1978. He was an extremely hard worker who attended night college with three young kids at home to earn US degrees, including his CPA, and continued working until the age of 81. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, and was a voracious reader.

The family thanks all the staff at Gentiva Hospice for their exceptional care and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Akshaya Patra, the world’s largest NGO school meal program, providing lunches to over 2 million children in 20,000 schools across India every day. https://www.akshayapatrausa.org/
