Obituary for Chander Kailash Kapur
The Kapur clan is heartbroken to announce the passing of their beloved Lt. Gen. Chander Kailash Kapur, PVSM, AVSM.
Chander passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 18, 2021 surrounded by his loved ones. He was 84.
We lost our hero, the most loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an accomplished General (decorated with Ati Vashisht sewa medal and Param Vashisht sewa medal) who led millions of troops on and off the battlefield. He touched so many lives professionally in his glorious and long army career. Sarvada shaktishali (forever strong) was the motto of the battalion he raised in 1976 in India, which won the highest decoration and laurels (Param Vashisht Chakra medal) at the Kargil War.
As a writer he influenced so many around him with books and articles on leadership in the 21st century. The most dazzling part of his life has been that of the most beloved Guru bhakt (devotee). His faith and love has moved and inspired countless people. We will miss him today and forever, he lives in our hearts as we celebrate his life and legacy in each moment. His battalion and regiment will remember him in highest regard.
We will try to stay strong for our beloved dad. We will miss his infectious smile and his commanding voice which was music to so many ears. We think of him with every breath and are immensely proud of the legacy he has left behind.
The love, care and the kind words that have flowed from all across the globe have warmed up our hearts. Thank you to each one of you. He is one with the divine Lord now.
