Obituary for Zakaria Shaker

In loving memory of our beloved husband and father Zakaria M. Shaker.

Zakaria Mobarak Shaker, 78, of Marlboro, NJ, departed to the Heavenly Father in peace at his home on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Ruby Memorial of Hightstown, NJ.

Zakaria was born in Gerga, Egypt in 1938. He then moved to Cairo to study Medicine. Zakaria led a kind life always helping others. Ever since graduating as an urologist, he treated patients in poor areas and wanted nothing in return. Patients in poor areas often paid him eggs and bread and he gladly received the food with love. Zakaria resembled His Lord in that “He went about doing good.” (Acts 10:38)

Zakaria and his family immigrated to the United States to provide a better life for his family. Zakaria lived a life of kindness and giving. He loved to comfort people. He struggled with a stroke and cancer for the last seven years, all the while always having a beautiful smile on his face.

A wake will be held on Friday evening from 7pm to 9 pm at St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church, 132 State Route 34, Holmdel, NJ 07733. Funeral Service will begin at St. Mina Church on Saturday morning at 10:30 am following the Divine Liturgy from 7 am to 10 am Entombment will proceed immediately after funeral prayers and will be held at Marlboro Memorial Cemetery, 361 Route 79, Morganville, NJ 07751. A funeral Agape Meal will follow immediately after entombment at St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church in the Fellowship Hall.

Survived by his loving family, He is the beloved husband to Magda Shaker. Devoted father to Caroline Habashy, Gina Habib, and Norma Awad. Sons-in-law, Naguib Habashy, Remon Habib, and Maged Awad. Dear brother to Fouad Shaker, Wahib Shaker, Youssef Shaker, Mahfouz Shaker, Sabry Shaker, Naser Shaker, and Asem Shaker. Cherished grandfather to Maria Habashy, Hank Habashy, Abigail Habib, George Habib, Rita Awad, and Sophia Awad.
